About The Song As I had lunch with an old friend in late August, we spent a great deal of time commiserating and sharing our frustration over what has been happening to our country over the last fifty-plus years. He suddenly stopped in mid-sentence, and suggested to me that I should write a song to echo the feelings and emotions shared by so many Americans at this time. He said, “Murray, you need to write a song to ask God to bless America or the U.S.A.”
I told him that both of those songs had been done, but what we really need today is to ask God to save America because He has blessed us, beyond our wildest dreams, and look at what we have done. We have stood idly by and watched individuals, organizations, and government systematically remove any and all evidence of God from our buildings, our schools, and tell us that we can no longer pray in public. The God who inspired the creators of our republic to pledge their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor for the birth of our nation is the same God that we have progressively turned our backs on. As a result, we now find ourselves to be a nation in crisis. My friend then replied, “This is precisely the reason you need to write the song.”
Ten days later, after much thought and prayer, I had completed “God Save the U.S.A.” and was ready to begin recording the words and music that God put in my heart. I have never considered myself an overly religious man, but I do believe in God and I do believe in the power of prayer. I also believe that there are many of you who share my feelings and I hope that this musical prayer will be a source of inspiration to you as we resolve to return our country to its rightful owners, “We the people” and God Almighty.

Joey, a college freshman, blessed us by sharing his talent and sensitivity to create this original visual interpretation of the song’s lyrics. The hands of God reaching down to protect the diminishing flame of the Statue of Liberty, succinctly captures the message of this patriotic prayer.
